In 2018 we hosted over 20,000 aliens in Roswell! We were so amazed! Our surveys indicated people from 43 states and 7 different countries. Countless media groups and live coverage network shows, and numerous printed stories.

In 2018 we had some exciting additions including the NASA Space Suit and Alien Autopsy.  We are working hard on new additions in 2019 to make this festival even bigger and better than ever. Be sure to join almost 35,000 subscribers at the bottom of the page for updates!

We have only begun, so much of the information you see now will be from 2018.  We are working on 2019, so be sure to check back periodically.

This year the Festival will be held July 5-7, 2019 – make plans to attend now!  We encourage you to arrive a few days early to enjoy the City of Roswell July 4 Extravaganza.  Many hotels are already filling up with reservations, so we recommend making reservations immediately!

The City of Roswell invites UFO enthusiasts and skeptics alike to join in the celebration of one of the most debated incidents in history. The three-day event will feature guest speakers, authors, live entertainment, a costume contest, parade, a pet costume contest, parade, family-friendly activities and more.

The majority of big events are free.  These include the Free Movie, Pet and Human Costume Contests, Light Parade and so much more.  No charge for alien hat making and crafts.  Some of the vendors, the UFO Museum and the Roswell Planetarium charge nominal fees.

July 4th Spectacular Events

6:00pmThursday, July 4, 2019

6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Cielo Grande Recreation Area 1612 W. College Blvd. Roswell, NM 88203

Fireworks will light up the sky and music will fill the air on the Fourth of July as Roswell, NM celebrates America’s Independence Day with the Roswell SERTOMA Club’s Mike Satterfield Memorial Fireworks Extravaganza sponsored by the Roswell SERTOMA Club and the City of Roswell. The annual Fourth of July event at Cielo Grande Recreation Area (1600 block West College Boulevard) takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. thanks to the work of the SERTOMA Club – a local community service organization – with the assistance of The City of Roswell.
The 30-minute fireworks display will begin about 9:15 p.m. and will feature patriotic music simulcast on HOT 97.1 FM. The free extravanganza gets underway at 6 p.m. with a kids zone, as well as local food vendors. At 6:15 p.m, the pre-fireworks happenings will begin with Rhythm Divine, a band set with traditional New Mexico music infused with rock n roll, blues, and country, and influenced by soul, funk and R&B. At 7:30 p.m., the festivities will be headlined by a performance by Billy Ray Cyrus who became a household name over the course of his career that spans across music, television and theater. Throughout his nearly three-decade career, Cyrus has achieved worldwide success as a singer, songwriter, actor and producer. While Cyrus currently shares the No. 1 song on all music-streaming platforms worldwide with the remix of Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” Cyrus is equally excited about the release of his long-planned album, “The SnakeDoctor Circus.”  Cyrus and record label BMG planned to release the concept record on May 24, long before the success of “Old Town Road.” Other sponsors of the event are Chef Toddzilla’s Gourmet Burgers, Antigua Cocina Mexicana, Hot 97 KBCQ, 104.7 KMOU, J&S Pro Sound Entertainment, Cerritos Mexican Kitchen. Just north of Cielo Grande at Elks Lodge #969 (1720 N. Montana Ave.), veterans are invited to a free barbecue the lodge will host for them and their families from 4 to 7 p.m. that day.
The Roswell SERTOMA Club’s Mike Satterfield Memorial 20th Annual Fireworks Extravaganza honors the late SERTOMA Club member who was among the group that revived Roswell’s Fourth of July fireworks show in 1997 with the SERTOMA Club as the main funding supporter. Satterfield was instrumental in securing the firing equipment and enabling Roswell Fire Department personnel to get trained and licensed in shooting pyrotechnics. The RFD personnel continue to fill the specialized roles of setting up and firing off the show each year. For more information on the Roswell SERTOMA Club’s Mike Satterfield Memorial Fireworks Extravaganza, contact the City of Roswell Public Affairs Department at 575-637-1203. West College Boulevard adjacent to Cielo Grande Recreation Area will be closed during the fireworks show. To avoid parking complications, people are asked to arrive early. It is also recommended spectators bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on. For safety reasons, people should not bring their own fireworks, and should not bring pets.
As motorists leave the area following the fireworks show, they are asked to be aware of and adhere to signs and police officers directing traffic as various streets will be closed and detours will be in place to create a traffic flow that will allow people to most efficiently exit the area.**Fourth Street and Fifth Street will each be closed between the alleys on either side of Second Street. The alleys run parallel to Second Street.
